How to screenshot part of a webpage
If you only need one chart, form, error message, paragraph or section, you do not need to screenshot the entire page and crop it afterward. You can capture a selected region directly.
In Capture, choose Select Area, drag over the part of the webpage you need, and release. The selected region is captured and opens in the editor where you can annotate, blur, pixelate, copy and share it. If you want one exact webpage component instead of a free-form rectangle, use Select Element.
Three practical methods
For a quick paste, your operating system may be enough. For an exact HTML component, Chrome DevTools can work. For a repeat capture-edit-copy workflow, Capture keeps the process together.
Use the built-in screenshot shortcut if you only need a quick rectangular image.
This is excellent for a one-off capture, but annotation/privacy workflows may require another app.
DevTools can capture one webpage node when you need an exact element boundary.
This is precise, but less convenient for frequent capture and markup work.
Use Capture when the screenshot will be reviewed, edited, protected or shared.
Capture remembers your selected capture mode until you change it.
Selected Area vs Select Element
Select Area is best when you want to draw your own boundary around a chart, error message, combination of controls or arbitrary region. Select Element follows the actual webpage element boundary, which is useful for cards, forms, tables, hero sections and UI components.
When partial capture is better
A focused screenshot is often easier to understand and safer to share than an entire screen.
Capture the error and the nearby field or control without exposing the rest of the account.
Share one chart or KPI panel without capturing unrelated business information.
Capture only the field, validation message or form section involved in the issue.
Focus feedback on one component or layout region instead of sending a busy full-page image.
Show only the control or section the reader needs for that step.
Reduce irrelevant context and mask private details before sharing evidence.
Privacy
Selecting only the region you need can reduce accidental exposure of names, email addresses, account information and unrelated browser content. Capture also provides Blur and Pixelate for additional privacy masking before sharing. For highly sensitive secrets, fully remove, cover or crop the information rather than relying on blur alone.
